From my perspective from the southeastern side of Sugarloaf Mountain, the roads are generally adequate, even with the minimal addition of anticipated residential development. There is a traffic management problem caused by commuters trying to avoid southbound I-270 in the morning and evening rush hours, especially on Thurston Road, Dr. Perry Road and Slate Quarry Road. Safety improvements and better traffic management could help with this problem.

The bridge repairs on Rt 28 have caused a lot of traffic problems on the western side of the mountain; in particular, when people follow GPS instead of the prescribed detour. The Frederick county side of Mt Ephraim Rd (from Comus to Park Mills) has been deluged with weekend traffic during the bridge closures.

Yes! it's made it unsafe for horses and bicycles accessing the mountain from the North on the gravel road or leaving the mountain toward Park Mills.
